A public informational meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 19 between 5 and 7 p.m. for residents to learn more about a proposed facility in Port Morris that would recycle grease.
The meeting will be held at 885 East 140th St., between Walnut and Locust Avenues in Port Morris.
Non-profit group The Doe Fund has submitted an application to the state’s Dept of Environmental Conservation for a permit that would allow them to operate a plant that would recycle yellow grease. The applicants say the recycling process helps cut down both on the amount of grease that otherwise builds up in the city’s sewer system, and on shipment of grease buildup to landfills.
