Incumbent Carmen Arroyo fought off two challengers in a Sept. 13 primary to reclaim her seat atop the Democratic ticket for the 48th Assembly District that includes Mott Haven and Hunts Point.
The Bronx Board of Elections reported that Arroyo received 1,267 votes to 614 for first-time challenger Maximino Rivera and 529 for Charles R. Serrano. Rivera, a retired postal worker and housing advocate, is the founder and long-time director of Mott Haven non-profit organization Pueblo en Marcha. Serrano is a former police officer.
Arroyo was first elected in 1994.
