The Bronx LGBTQ Center has announced that the first of this year’s five community pride awards will go to Kim Watson, and will be presented at the 2014 LGBTQ Pride & Health Fair on Saturday, July 19th.
The fair will be held between noon and 6 p.m. at the Crotona Park amphitheatre. Watson will receive the Center’s Christine Jorgensen Trailblazer Award for her work founding and serving as chief executive of CK Life, the first specifically transgender medical clinic in The Bronx.
The Center will present four additional awards at the fair, all of which will be announced in the coming weeks. Suggestions for award nominees should be sent via e-mail to bronxpride2014@bronxlgbtqcenter.org.
Visit the event page at http://bronxpride2014.eventbrite.com/ or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/events/559875584095127/. The Center is attempting to raise $15,000 in donations to produce this year’s event.
Proceeds would cover the City’s permit and license requirements, as well as equipment, promotional costs, decorations, and related expenses for the fair.
