Rep. Jose E. Serrano won the New York Democratic primary on June 28, trouncing the challenger, political newcomer Leonel Baez. Serrano won 8,343 to Baez’s 990.
Serrano seeks to enter his 14th term representing Hunts Point, Longwood, Mott Haven, Melrose in Washington. He will go on to face the Republican candidate Alejandro Vega, and independent Eduardo Ramirez in November’s general election.
