A Mott Haven resident was indicted today on 1,020 counts of child pornography possession and promotion related to videos he shared and retained on his computer, depicting children as young as three years old being sexually abused.
Bronx DA Darcel Clark said that “The defendant allegedly had hundreds of disturbing, revolting videos of young children—even toddlers—engaged in sexual acts. Each of those images amounts to child abuse, and each time they are played or shared the children are re-victimized, so the cruelty never ends for them.”
The defendant, Raymond Fontanez, 41, of 175 Alexander Avenue, was arraigned today. Bail was set at $10,000 bond/$7,500 cash.
The accused is charged with 1,020 counts of Promoting an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, and Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a child. He faces between two years and four months and seven years in prison if convicted.
A detective with the NYPD’s Vice/Major Case Squad traced an Internet Protocol address offering to share 10 images and videos of child pornography to a computer in Fontanez’ apartment. Detectives obtained a search warrant and retrieved Fontanez’ laptop, which contained more than 500 videos and images of child pornography.
Fontanez is due back in court on November 27.
