After six years without a community center, the South Bronx’s lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, and questioning (LGBTQ) residents finally have a place to call their own. Destination Tomorrow, which was founded in 2009, has become a refuge for the area’s LGBTQ since moving to The Hub this fall.
In addition to providing a safe space to socialize, the nonprofit organization offers counseling, HIV testing, job training, and other services previously lacking in the neighborhood. More than half of the borough’s LGBTQ residents are food and housing insecure, according to a statewide survey from 2015.
Destination Tomorrow is located at 452 East 149th St., 3rd floor, and can be reached by phone at (646) 723-3325.
