Mitchel Houses Community Center was the setting for a half-day event where Mott Haven and Port Morris residents got a chance to dress for success.
Collections of lightly-worn business casual clothing were distributed at Clothing for Careers. The May 6 event was organized by Mott Haven-based East Side House Settlement in collaboration with realty company RXR.
The event “showed the eagerness of our community to prepare to advance their careers and get into the economic mainstream,” said East Side House Settlement’s executive director Daniel Diaz.
Founded in Manhattan 130 years ago, East Side House Settlement has been headquartered in the South Bronx since 1963. The organization is based at 337 Alexander Ave., anchoring community-wide pre-teen, teen, senior and workforce programs.
