Lincoln Hospital will receive $3 million in federal funds for improvements to critical care units, including 200 new beds in its Intensive Care Unit.

Rep. Ritchie Torres announced the funding last week, adding that the financing will “greatly improve patient health and safety outcomes.”

The money is part of a Community Project Funding grant.

The NYC Health + Hospitals, of which Lincoln is part, says the new beds are designed to allow patients more mobility, including three ways for patients to get out of them and ways for in-bed exercise.

It marks the first time in a decade old beds have been replaced at Lincoln.

“The new beds are extremely important and will help us continue to ensure our patient’s safety while receiving critical care,” said Lincoln’s Chief Medical Officer Lewis Mitchell. “The beds will help prevent falls and protect their skin by preventing pressure injuries,”

The $3 million grant is part of $16.2 million Rep.Torres secured as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, to fund 15 community projects in his Bronx congressional district, which includes Mott Haven, Port Morris and Melrose.
