Longwood Art Gallery and inClimate will hold the next PERCENT FOR GREEN event on Thursday, July 15 at on Tuesday between 2 nd 4 pm.,
The roundtable and workshop is organized by artist Alicia Grullón, as she aims to propose and then lobby to pass a Percent for Green bill to benefit Bronx residents through improvements in their environment and their standard of living. Hers is one of seven projects in the inClimate workshop series.
The workshop is geared toward residents and will be headed by master composter and mom Stephanie Orenge who will teach the principals of vermiculture composting (composting with worms).
Ms. Orenge has been composting all her kitchen scraps for years, in both indoor and outdoor bins. She will show residents how they can set up a vermiculture bin to keep organic waste out of the garbage and turn it into material that enriches the soil for houseplants and gardens.
Orenge is a Bronx native and received a Master Composter Certificate from the NYC Compost Project, hosted by The New York Botanical Garden.
