Rapper Frederick Thomas, better known as Fred the Godson, has the coronavirus. The 35-year-old Highbridge native tweeted a picture of himself wearing an oxygen mask in what appears to be a hospital.
“Please keep me in ya’ll prayers,” said Thomas.
Thomas gained significant recognition when he was named a Freshman of XXL Magazine’s 2011 class. Alongside him in that class were Meek Mill, Kendrick Lamar and Mac Miller, to name a few.
On March 24, Thomas tweeted information for the #4barchallenge, a coronavirus relief fundraising initiative he collaborated on with fellow rapper Joell Ortiz. The initiative invites people to rap four bar verses over a beat provided by the rappers. In the tweet, Thomas said they would be sharing their favorite verses.
The relief effort is linked in Thomas’ Twitter bio and has a donation page which leads to the nonprofit CDC Foundation’s coronavirus crowdfunding effort.
