Shooting on East 138 Street
A 26-year-old man was shot by an unknown assailant as he walked out of the K Lounge on the Third Ave and East 138th Street at 4 a.m. on Nov. 11, police said. The victim was treated at Lincoln Hospital. No arrest has been made.
Robberies
-A 15-year-old was mugged at the intersection of Westchester Avenue and Jackson Avenue on Nov. 5 at around 8 a.m. Police said the suspects nabbed $4 from the left pocket of the teenager before taking off. The thieves are still on the loose.
-Two men burst into a pizzeria on 141 Street and snatched a gold chain from a 37-year-old cashier around 1 p.m. on Nov. 8. One suspect, 18-year-old George Mckelevey was later arrested and charged with robbery, according to the Bronx District Attorney’s office. Police said Mckelevey was arrested seven times prior for crimes such as misdemeanor possession of a weapon and petit larceny. Police are still looking for the second suspect.
-A 17-year-old high school student was robbed of his iPhone 4 between Westchester Avenue and St. Ann’s Avenue on Nov. 8. The victim was walking with a friend and talking on the phone around 2 p.m. when a suspect pulled out a knife and demanded the phone. The suspect took off with the victim’s phone. Police said that they don’t have a description of the suspect. No arrest has been made.
-Police have arrested 32-year-old Edison Sanchez for allegedly going into a store at 835 East 152 St. on Nov 11 and threatening a 44-year-old employee with a knife before demanding $115 from the cash register. Police nabbed the suspect at the intersection of East 152 Street and Union Avenue. Sanchez was charged with first- and third-degree robbery, menacing in the second degree, harassment, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny, the DA said. Sanchez was arraigned on Nov. 12 plea and pled not guilty. He is due in court on Nov. 16.
Calling Card Bandit
Police are warning residents to protect valuables in their car and homes after a string of recent burglaries.
-A 50-year-old calling card merchant whose car was parked on the north east corner of Brook Avenue and East 137 Street was burglarized on Nov.7 at 5:20 a.m. Police said the suspect broke in through the driver’s window of the man’s vehicle and stole $2,600 in addition to calling cards that were stored in the car. Collectively, the stolen calling cards were worth less than $1,000. The suspect has not been found.
Other burglaries
-Police are looking for an unknown suspect who broke into the apartment of a 34-year-old man on St. Ann’s Avenue near East 141st Street. The victim, who was not home at the time, told police that the bandit made out with over $80,000 worth of electronic devices including, a Hublot watch worth over $20,000, a Mac Book Pro, iPod, jewelry and Louis Vuitton backpack. Police are still looking for the suspect.
-A resident of an apartment on East 139 Street reported that someone broke in while she was sleeping around noon on Nov. 9 and stole $1,000. The victim, 18, said she shared the apartment with her sister, who was not home at the time. Detectives are reviewing surveillance installed in the building. The suspect has not yet been identified.
Gun Charge
Police arrested a man in front of the Millbrook Houses on East 137th Street about 11 a.m. on Nov. 9 after they stopped and frisked him and allegedly found a gun and marijuana. The suspect, Mathew Kennely, 20, was arraigned the next day and plead not guilty. He was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of marijuana and resisting arrest, the DA said. Police said the 20-year-old’s criminal history includes robberies and unlawful gun possession.
iPhone Theft
Police are looking for two perpetrators who held up two teenagers near McDonald’s on Westchester Avenue on Nov. 11 and demanded an iPhone from one of them. According to police, the suspects pulled up their shirts and displayed guns, which prompted the 16-year-old who owned the iPhone to give it up. Authorities are still looking for the pair of robbers.
Bank Robbery
Police are looking for a gunman who robbed the Emigrant Savings Bank at 370 East 149th St. on November 10. According to police, the suspect went into the bank, approached a teller, displayed a gun and then handed a note to the teller demanding money. The thief made off with $1,000. According to police, three witnesses, including the teller, were all unharmed. The suspect is still at large.
