In October, four months after graduating from Bronx Community College, Sydney Guzman and Chelsea Davis found themselves back in the classroom that started it all for them.
The City Council’s proposal to change district lines would give Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito a much smaller chunk of Manhattan to represent, while dramatically increasing her Mott Haven representation. Mark-Viverito opposes the change, as do many of her constituents in both boroughs.
In grungy elevated subway tracks and aging apartment buildings Daniel Hauben has found what other landscape artists find in sunlit forests and seaside villas. Now, 22 paintings of Bronx scenes, commissioned by Bronx Community College, will welcome visitors to the the college’s new library.
