Although the mayor has pledged to discontinue the use of cluster-sites, the number of cluster-site units has grown by ten percent over the last two years. For now, there is nowhere else for homeless families to go.
A representative from the mayor’s office told fed-up community board members that hizzoner will see to it that neighborhoods other than Mott Haven get their fair share of homeless shelters.
Community Board 1 says the combination of supportive housing and drug and mental health services is already far more than the area can take—but the shelters keep on coming.
